GEORGE LANHAM - IDDQD (DRUMCOMPLEX REMIX)

Not that familar with George Lanham’s stuff, but I’ll soon be correcting that particular oversight. Great chugging techno on Different is Different.

PINCH - LAZARUS

From back when ‘dubstep’ made sense. Weird dark but floaty vibe that I really like. Reminds me of grimy bits of North London for some reason, possibly listened to this on the coach to Stanstead or something.

LOVEBIRDS FEAT. STEE DOWNES - WANT YOU IN MY SOUL

Just a delicious track… and it has to be the full mix with the extended intro. Wonderful crisp vocal does justice to the luscious production.

MONOLAKE - ALIGNING THE DAEMON

Impressed with the new Monolake album, think it’s a definite improvement on ‘Ghosts’. This is the stand-out track on first listen.

YOSI HORIKAWA - WANDERING

Almost (but not quite) unclassifiable sonic genius from little-known Japanese producer Yosi Horikawa. He’s big on field recordings, weaving the sounds of nature with haunting synth tones and atom-splittingly precise percussion, creating a sound that’s totally and utterly original. I’ll definitely be checking out his Soundcloud and Mixcloud pages from hereon in.

PETTER - MODERN ETERNITY

It’s kind of hard to do a “Christmas special” on an electronic music blog. Tech house and IDM producers aren’t exactly known for their earnest attempts to grab that elusive Christmas number one. Still, I’ve had this track from Petter running through my head for a few days now, and the wintry scene above (the EP cover) is the tenuous connection I’m going with. ‘Modern Eternity’ is a lush piece of melodic tech house that manages to feel epic without being in any way po-faced. The breakdown is particularly beautiful. Merry Xmas!

FALTY DL - LUCKY LUCIANO

A dash of old skool rave-inspired broken beat to freshen up your Wednesday. FaltyDL’s ‘You Stand Uncertain’ is another of 2011’s necessary revisits. Great album.

SEPALCURE - SEE ME FEEL ME

Delicious hazy cut from the Brooklyn duo’s new album, out now on Hot Flush. Plus check out a freebie to download below - the rather excellent ‘I’m Alright’.

MACEO PLEX - CAN’T LEAVE YOU (TALE OF US REMIX)

Awesome combined effort from two of this year’s outstanding breakthrough artists. Calling Eric Estornel a “breakthrough artist” doesn’t quite do him justice however, since he’s been plugging away for years under the Maetrik moniker producing tech and minimal of highest calibre. Still, I like the slightly more classic house direction he’s taken with the Maceo Plex project, while this superb rework from Tale of Us propells him straight back into full-on Berlinner tech haus territory. The bass is a real force to reckoned with on this monster, and the keys lend it some serious atmosphere. Top track.

LONE - TO BE WITH A PERSON YOU REALLY DIG

One for the lovers. Much as I love Lone’s new hyper-rave persona (check out his phenomenal recent EP on R&S), I hope he still finds time to crank out glitchy ‘glo-fi’ tracks like this one. Taken from his rather fine album ‘Ecstacy and Friends’, available at any online retailer worth their salt.
